DOG GROOMING ROOM

This year's summer raffle was in aid of our new dog grooming room. At the moment it is just a shell. No plaster, no electrics, no plumbing, nothing. There is a lot to do and a lot to buy. We have already made a good start to the fund by receiving a very generous donation from Jackie Baker in memory of her husband, Barry. With this amount we will be able to buy a holding/isolation kennel for the dogs before they are actually groomed. Once the start is made the only way is forward and the Summer Draw added £1,300 to the fund.

Apart from the above-mentioned jobs, we also need to kit out the room. A stainless steel bath/shower unit, priced at approximately £1,500, a standalone dryer and a hydraulic grooming table. There are also smaller items needed like new clippers, brushes and combs. It all adds up but it will help so much at the Centre when this room is completed.

Bathing and grooming of all the dogs in the kennels is important on a regular basis and we especially like them to have a wash and brush up before they go to a new home. Often dogs arrive in a neglected condition with very matted coats. Dealing with this immediately makes them feel much more comfortable and helps them to bond with the staff caring for them.
