When donating online, you may leave the name fields blank. If you are donating by post or in person, simply let us know that you’d prefer your donation to remain anonymous and we will honour that request. We do not store personal information from any payment cards used to submit a donation.

Please note that if you wish to add Gift Aid to your donation, we will need to collect some personal details to meet HMRC requirements, anonymous donations cannot be gift aided.

If you have any concerns about privacy or data protection, feel free to contact us. We’re here to help and will always handle your donation in line with your wishes and our privacy policy.

Every donation, whether anonymous or named, makes a meaningful difference to the lives of the animals in our care. Thank you for your support.

Can I make a donation in someone's name as a gift?

Yes, you can! Making a donation in someone’s name is a thoughtful and meaningful gift for birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, or other special occasions. It’s a wonderful way to honour a loved one while supporting the care and rescue of animals.

When making a donation as a gift, you can let us know if you would like us to send a special acknowledgment to the person being honoured. This can be sent directly to them or to you, whichever you prefer.

If you’d like to make a gift donation, please contact us or use our online donation form and include a note specifying it is a gift in someone’s name. We’re happy to help you create a memorable and impactful gift that makes a real difference.

Alternatively, consider sponsoring a specific animal or project as a gift! Find the full list of options on our Sponsorship Page.

Can I set up a donation in memory of somone?

Yes, making a donation in memory of a loved one, whether a family member, friend, or cherished pet, is a heartfelt way to honour their memory and support the vital work of The Kit Wilson Trust. Donations made in memory help us provide ongoing care and comfort to animals in need.

You can set up an online tribute donation page or simply indicate that your donation is in memory when giving by post or in person. We can provide an acknowledgment to share with family and friends.

If you’re organising a collection or memorial event, whether for a person or pet, and would like advice or support, please get in touch. We’re here to help you create a meaningful tribute that makes a real difference.

Thank you for remembering your loved ones in such a compassionate and impactful way.

What is Gift Aid and how can I add it to my donation?

Gift Aid is a government scheme that allows UK charities to claim an extra 25p for every £1 you donate, at no additional cost to you. It helps your donation go further and provides vital extra funding for our work, just by completing a simple declaration.

To qualify, you must be a UK taxpayer and have paid at least as much in Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax during the tax year as the charity will claim on your donations. It won’t affect your tax status, and you can cancel your declaration at any time.

How to add Gift Aid to your donation:

  • Online donations: You’ll be prompted to consider Gift Aiding your online donation when visiting our donation page. From here, you fill in the required details and confirm your taxpayer status on our Gift Aid Declaration form.

  • In person: You can visit one of our charity shops with your donation and fill in a Gift Aid Declaration at the time of donation.

  • Already donated? You can still complete a Gift Aid Declaration for past eligible donations (up to four years back).

If you're unsure about your eligibility or have questions about the process, feel free to contact us, we’re happy to help. Adding Gift Aid is one of the simplest and most effective ways to support the animals in our care.

Find full details on how Gift Aid works on our Gift Aid Page.

Can I donate items or funds specifically for the animals?

Yes, you can! While all donations help support the charity’s overall mission, supporters may choose to give specifically towards the care of the specific animals or project at our rescue centre.

If you wish to donate funds directly for animal care, such as food or veterinary treatment, please visit our Sponsorships Page to see where you can make an impact. We can ensure your gift is allocated to provide the best possible care for the animals who depend on us.

Similarly, if you want to donate specific items, such as pet food, bedding, toys, or other supplies, please get in contact first to confirm current needs. This helps us make sure your generous gift has the greatest impact.

We truly appreciate your kindness and commitment to improving the lives of our animals. Your support, whether through general donations or targeted gifts, helps us create a safe, happy, and healthy environment for every resident.

What pre-loved goods can I donate?

We warmly and gratefully welcome donations of pre-loved goods to help raise funds for our animals and projects! You can drop off your donations at any of our charity shops or at our Donation Hub. Our shops are always in need of quality items to sell.

If you’re donating a large volume of items, please contact us ahead of time so we can make sure we’re ready to receive everything. For bigger drop-offs, our Donation Hub is best equipped to accept and process larger volumes.

Items we gratefully accept:

  • Clothing (all seasons, in clean and wearable condition)

  • Footwear (paired and in good condition)

  • Handbags, wallets & accessories

  • Thank you so much for thinking of us! By donating quality items, you’re helping us raise vital funds to care for the animals in our rescue centre, and we couldn’t do it without your support.

Are there pre-loved items that you don't/can't accept?

We are so grateful for donations that we can sell to raise money for the animals in our care. However, there are certain items we’re unable to accept due to health and safety regulations, UK legislation, and trading standards.

When donating, it's very important to avoid bringing items on the list below. Unfortunately, we cannot sell or repurpose these, and disposing of them sustainably comes at a significant cost to the charity, money we would much rather use to help our animals.

Condition guidelines

For the same reasons as above, it's also important that your donations arrive in good, saleable condition and are not broken or display heavy wear.

If you’re ever unsure or you have an item of particular value that you feel that KWT may benefit from, please don’t hesitate to contact us before your visit.

Can my business or organisation get involved?

Absolutely! We love working with businesses, organisations, and local groups that want to make a real difference in their community.

There are several ways you can get involved:

  • Charity of the Year: Choose KWT as your charity partner for the year and fundraise with us through internal events, staff challenges, or customer-facing promotions.

  • Matched giving: Many businesses offer to match the fundraising efforts of their employees, doubling the impact of staff-led initiatives.

  • Sponsorship: Sponsor one of our events or fundraising campaigns and benefit from positive exposure while supporting a great cause

  • In-kind donations: Support us by donating services, raffle prizes, supplies, or professional expertise that helps our work go further.

  • Payroll giving: Make it easy for your employees to give regularly through a payroll deduction scheme. Find out more about Give As You Earn (GAYE) at the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF).

  • Host a fundraiser: Organise coffee mornings, dress-down days, bake sales, quizzes, or fitness challenges at your workplace.

  • Donate end of line stock: Unsold or surplus items from your business can be donated to our shops to help generate income for our work and is a fantastic way to reduce waste.

We’re always open to ideas and collaborations and would love to hear from businesses that share our passion for animal welfare and community support.

Get in touch with us to discuss how your company can get involved, whether you’re a small local shop or a large organisation, we’d love to partner with you.

Can I donate stocks, shares or other assets?

Yes, donating stocks, shares, or other assets is a generous way to support The Kit Wilson Trust and can also provide you with potential tax benefits. Gifts of securities allow you to contribute without using cash, which can be a valuable option for many supporters.

If you’re considering this type of donation, we recommend consulting with your financial advisor or tax professional to understand the implications and benefits specific to your situation.

To arrange a donation of stocks, shares, bonds, or other assets, please contact us directly.

Thank you for considering this impactful way to support our animals and help sustain our work long-term. Every gift, in whatever form, makes a meaningful difference.

Can I donate by post?

Yes, we gratefully accept donations by post.

If you'd prefer to send a donation by cheque, please make it payable to The Kit Wilson Trust for Animal Welfare and post it to:

The Kit Wilson Trust
Animal Rescue Centre

Stonehurst Lane
Hadlow Down
East Sussex
TN22 4ED

Please do not send cash through the post for security reasons. If you would like to donate cash, kindly visit one of our charity shops or get in contact with us so we can find a solution that suits you.

If you'd like to tell us a bit more about your donation; perhaps it’s in memory of a loved one, part of a fundraising effort, or a one-off gift, we’d love to hear from you. You can include a note with your cheque, and we’ll do our best to acknowledge your support.

Also, if you're a UK taxpayer, you can increase the value of your donation at no extra cost by completing a Gift Aid declaration. Just download the form from our website and pop it in with your cheque, or contact us for assistance.

How can I update or cancel my recurring donation?

We want managing your support to be as easy and flexible as possible. If you have set up a recurring donation and need to update your payment details, change the donation amount, or cancel your monthly gift, you can do so at any time.
